About the event

Rediscover true adventure in the awe-inspiring Sahara Desert. This five day trek covers 100km; passing through Morocco’s forbidding landscape punctuated by peaks, gorges, dunes and oases. At night, sleep under Africa’s star strewn skies and enjoy traditional Berber hospitality.

This five day trek covers 100km passing through Morocco’s forbidding landscape punctuated by peaks, gorges, dunes and oases. At night, sleep under Africa’s star strewn skies and enjoy traditional Berber hospitality. 

This challenge goes beyond the Jebel Saghro region, starting on the Maider El Kbir plateau, before ascending Jebel El Mrakib, and admiring the stunning views. Walking through palm gorges, the route joins the dry Rhris River and heads towards an oasis of tamarisk trees. The final days are spent trekking along the Tikertouachene River, before celebrating a successful end to the challenge in Ouarzazate.

This trek is challenging, unforgiving, and life-changing.

Fundraising Options

  • Minimum Sponsorship Registration Fee - £250; minimum fundraising - £2,540
  • Mixed Funding Registration Fee - £250; challenge cost £250, minimum fundraising - £2,030
  • Self Funder Registration Fee - £250; balance of £1,245.00 (10 weeks before your challenge), raise as much sponsorship for Twins Trust as you can

Fundraising Options in Detail

Minimum Sponsorship

  • You will be required to pay the non-refundable registration fee of £250.00 at the time of booking and raise a minimum amount of sponsorship, £2,540.00 for Twins Trust. You should send your sponsorship money to Twins Trust as you raise it. At least 80% of the minimum sponsorship required (£2,032.00) must be sent to the charity 12 weeks before departure (by 23/11/2024), and the remaining 20% (£508.00) within 4 weeks of completing the challenge (by 22/03/2025). If you have raised the necessary funds, Twins Trust will then pay the balance of your expedition costs (which will not exceed 49% of the minimum sponsorship target). The charity benefits by keeping the remaining sponsorship money and every pound over and above that you raise. You will be required to pay the air tax and fuel element contribution 10 weeks before departure (capped at £100.00).*

* Please note the cost breakdown above is for a challenge in February. Timelines will be different for a trek in October and November.

Mixed Funding

  • You will be required to pay the non-refundable registration fee of £250.00 at the time of booking, and 10 weeks before departure (07/12/2024) you will be required to pay a second contribution of £250.00 towards your challenge costs, plus the air tax and fuel element contribution (capped at £100.00). You will also need to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship, £2,030.00 for Twins Trust. You should send your sponsorship money to the charity as you raise it. At least 80% of the minimum sponsorship required (£1,624.00) must be sent to the charity 12 weeks before departure (by 23/11/2024), and the remaining 20% (£406.00) within 4 weeks of completing the challenge (by 22/03/2025). If you have raised the necessary funds, Twins Trust will then pay the balance of your expedition costs (which will not exceed 49% of the minimum sponsorship target). The charity benefits by keeping the remaining sponsorship money and every pound over and above that you raise.*

Self Funder

  • The full cost of this challenge is £1,495.00 plus the air tax and fuel element contribution (capped at £100.00). You will be required to pay the non-refundable registration fee of £250.00 at the time of booking, and 10 weeks before departure (07/12/2024) you will be required to pay the final balance of your challenge costs (£1,245.00), plus the air tax and fuel element contribution. You will receive fundraising advice and sponsorship forms and be asked to raise as much as you can for Twins Trust. As you have covered the full cost of the challenge, 100% of this fundraising will be retained by Twins Trust.*
