Why join this Pilates drop-in

Smartphones and social media are a big part of growing up, but knowing how to manage them isn't always straightforward.

With the government's plans to ban social media for under-16s and tighter rules around mobile phones in schools, many parents are wondering what these changes will mean for their families.

Should you delay giving your child a smartphone? How can you encourage healthier screen habits? And what happens when your child insists that everyone else is allowed to do something they're not?

Mark will help you cut through the confusion and discover practical ways to set boundaries, have positive conversations and support your children's wellbeing online.

For parents of twins, triplets or more, we'll also explore whether children of the same age should always have the same rules, or whether different approaches might sometimes be more appropriate.

Your expert

This session is led by Mark Saxby, founder of Positive Social, a charity helping children and young people make safer, healthier and more positive choices about social media.

A former BBC and ITV journalist, Mark has extensive experience working with schools, parents and young people to tackle the challenges of smartphones and social media.

Through Positive Social, Mark and his team have worked with thousands of children in schools across the UK, helping them understand the impact of social media and take greater control of their online lives.

Mark is also the author of The Last Chocolate Bar in the World and has delivered a TEDx talk, Reclaiming Belonging in a Distracted World, exploring the importance of human connection in an increasingly distracted world.

As a dad of three, Mark also understands first-hand the pressures parents face when navigating technology and family life.
