When Jonny’s brother and fiancée became parents to twins, the family faced a frightening start. The babies were diagnosed with Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS), a rare but serious condition that affects identical twins who share a placenta. Their early days were filled with uncertainty, fear and constant monitoring.
Watching his brother and his fiancée navigate that journey, and seeing the twins fight through such a difficult beginning, had a lasting impact on Jonny. His brother later completed the Manchester Marathon, showing incredible strength and determination. This inspired Jonny to create a challenge that would give something back to families facing similar situations.
Families affected by TTTS can face uncertainty, urgent treatment, early delivery and time in hospital. Twins Trust provides information and support to help families understand the condition and feel less alone during a difficult time.
This summer, Jonny’s idea will become a reality.

A 24-hour challenge with a purpose
Jonny is launching Built From Nothing 24, also known as BFN24. The 24-hour hybrid fitness fundraiser will take place at Body Burn Fitness in Halesowen.
From 12pm on 8 August to 12pm on 9 August 2026, participants will work together to burn 24,000 calories in 24 hours. They’re also aiming to raise at least £2,400 for charities including Twins Trust.
More than £600 has already been donated, and the team hopes to beat both targets.
TTTS can be a devastating diagnosis for families expecting identical twins. It can lead to emergency treatment, early delivery and long hospital stays. For Jonny’s family, the experience was life-changing and showed how important specialist information and support can be.
By choosing to support Twins Trust, Jonny hopes to help other families receive the guidance and information they need during one of the most challenging times of their lives.
Fitness, mental health and finding purpose
Jonny’s fitness journey began long before BFN24. He grew up around Body Burn Fitness, the gym owned by his dad, and was surrounded by training from childhood.
After playing rugby, he discovered CrossFit in 2007 and developed a passion for functional fitness. Today, he’s part of the growing world of hybrid fitness and takes on events such as HYROX and Deadly Dozen.
But BFN24 marks a new milestone.
I wanted to create something myself - something that brought people together, challenged them and gave back at the same time.
Jonny also knows how powerful fitness can be for mental wellbeing. After injuries during his rugby career, he faced periods of struggle, and training became an important outlet.
“Training has always been one of the best medicines for me. Exercise helped me through difficult times and continues to do so today.”
This is why the event will also support Mind, recognising the role movement can play in supporting mental health.

A community that keeps growing
Built From Nothing began as Jonny’s personal 100-day challenge to build consistency and positive habits. The experience taught him that clear goals can help fuel motivation. It also showed him that other people were looking for the same encouragement and support.
Today, BFN is a growing community built on encouragement, accountability and accessibility. Whether someone is new to fitness or an experienced athlete, the message remains simple.
“BFN is for everyone. You don’t need to be an athlete. You just need to be willing to get involved.”
Across the 24 hours, participants will rotate through rowing machines, ski ergs, bike ergs, air bikes and curve runners. Everyone will work together to reach the 24,000-calorie target.
Some people will take on longer sessions, while others will drop in for shorter bursts. Every contribution will count.
Alongside the physical challenge, the fundraiser will support charities close to Jonny’s heart, including Twins Trust and Mind.
Learn more about TTTS
TTTS is a rare complication in shared-placenta multiple pregnancies. Our advice can help you find signs to watch for, learn how scans diagnose it and what specialist treatments can support your babies and you.
Looking ahead
The event has already received fantastic support from local businesses. Jonny has thanked ATHX, Tenzing and many other sponsors that have donated prizes, resources and encouragement.
“The response has been incredible. People have really got behind what we’re trying to achieve.”
With momentum building, Jonny hopes BFN24 will become a regular event, perhaps taking place every year or even twice a year. For now, the focus is on delivering an unforgettable first challenge that celebrates resilience, community and the power of working together.
BFN24 is more than a fitness challenge. It’s a tribute to families who have faced difficult beginnings, including those affected by TTTS, and a reminder of what people can achieve when they come together.
