Christmas is on the horizon and many of you will be thinking about the cost of the festive season.

The cost-of-living crisis is on our minds and the worries continue about bills increasing. Here are some tips to try and make sure you don’t overspend as you buy gifts for your family and friends.

  • Organisation is key when you’re shopping for presents. Make sure you have a clear list and try your best to stick to it. Set a budget for each person. It’s easy to get taken in by special offers but by being savvy with your budget, you won’t overspend. Search online for any vouchers or discount codes that you might benefit from
  • Spread the cost and start buying early if you can. Scan the list of Twins Trust discounts and see where you can save thanks to your membership
  • Buy secondhand. It’s cheaper and better for the environment. Scour charity shops for some bargains. You might even be lucky enough to find an item off your child’s wish list at a quarter of the price.

  • Make your own gifts. Turn an artwork session with your multiples into an opportunity to make homemade gifts for relatives. A painted picture in a simple photo frame makes for a thoughtful gift.
  • Plan your food budget over the festive season and buy any items in advance that you can freeze ready for the celebrations.
  • There are always plenty of festive events to attend but of course they come at a cost. Decide the key events you want to go to and can afford. Then come up with some ideas at home or with friends that are cost-effective but will still bring plenty of festive joy. A winter walk to see the twinkling lights on homes in your area always brings plenty of magic. It’s worth checking out events local to you that might be free too.
Have a wonderful festive season without breaking the bank!
