High quality early education and childcare provides children with the foundations for lifelong success and a social infrastructure on which families, employers and the wider economy relies.

Yet childcare costs continue to pose a significant barrier for parents of multiples, often forcing them out of the workforce due to financial strain.

The current early education and childcare system is underfunded, unequal and inaccessible to the people that need it the most - particularly families with multiples.

We're calling on the UK government to rescue and reform the childcare sector by:

  • Guaranteeing that all children can access inclusive, high-quality provision that is affordable for their parents.
  • Committing to sustainable and fair funding for all types of providers.
  • Establishing and investing in an early years' workforce strategy.

We've joined forces with other charities and groups as part of the Early Education and Childcare Coalition to ensure that no parent feels compelled to choose between employment and providing quality care for their children. We'll ensure that families with multiples are represented at the highest levels of government.

We recognise that in Scotland and Northern Ireland childcare provisions work slightly differently and don't offer the new proposals seen in England and Wales. This isn't right or fair, so we're working to make sure change is implemented throughout the UK.
