We understand the challenges of managing a shopping trip with twins or triplets. The struggle of juggling little ones while trying to shop without a suitable shopping trolley can make a simple grocery trip feel like a marathon.

Double shopping trollies are few and far between and our families feel that they're not welcome in their local community.

Pause for thought

Our families lose out... and so do the supermarkets who lose our valuable custom. More children equals more spending, so more double trollies equals increased revenues for the supermarkets. Simple!

What do we want to see?

We want all supermarkets to provide enough double shopping trolleys, making shopping easier and less stressful for families with multiples.

By prioritising the needs of families with multiples, supermarkets will create a more welcoming environment that encourages loyalty and frequent visits, ultimately boosting their bottom line and improving the shopping experience for our families.

Other issues around accessibility
  • Enhanced parent and child parking: Navigating a car park with children can be stressful and it's even more challenging with multiple young ones who can go in different directions at the same time. We want shops to provide more parent and child parking spaces and more strictly enforce that these spots are only used by those who truly need them. These spaces should be closer to store entrances for easier and safer access. We would love to one day to see designated parking spaces specifically for families with multiples to accommodate wider buggies and additional space to manoeuvre.
  • Upgraded baby changing and feeding facilities: We recognise the importance of comfortable, accessible facilities for changing and feeding babies. Our goal is to push for spaces that cater to the needs of all parents, especially those with multiples. Feeding rooms should be provided which have spacious, comfortable seating arrangements that allow for tandem feeding without constraints. Baby changing rooms should fit a double buggy inside, ensuring you have the space to manage without stress. Ideally, there should be designated baby changing rooms without toilets inside to maintain hygiene and ease of use, especially when handling more than one child.
  • Building access: We understand the difficulty of navigating buildings without lifts when you have multiples, especially when you have a double buggy. People should have the option to schedule appointments on the ground floor in facilities like medical offices to accommodate all families comfortably. When venues require that prams be left outside, it's essential to consider the logistics for parents managing multiples. We want support systems or services that assist parents as they navigate the premises, ensuring safe and convenient access.
