For the first time, Twins Trust is undertaking UK-wide State of the Nation research into what it's like being a family with multiples. It will look at the UK experience and compare it with other multiple birth families around the world.

What is the research?

The research will show the social, financial, healthcare and developmental challenges of multiple parenthood. It will be released in Spring 2024. By showing what life's like for our families, Twins Trust will aim to make change happen.

This research will explore the impacts on family livelihoods, parental mental health, children's developmental progress and employment prospects faced by families with multiple births. It will also analyse the challenges associated with procuring adequate support, including increased medical costs, coordination expenses, extended NICU stays and the support offered by the various networks including charities and the NHS.

How can you get involved?

The survey requires parents of multiples to fill it in. It will take about 15-20 minutes of your time. People can stop in the middle and then continue the survey from where they left off, as long as cookies have been allowed on the survey.

Fill in the survey here

As we enter an election period, this is our chance to make life better for families with multiples. We can't do it without your help. By filling in the survey, you can help us to build our picture of everyday life for our families.

Has this ever been done before?

In the UK, this is the first time that anyone's looked at the challenges facing the multiples community. Similar research was conducted in Australia in March 2023.
