Being mum to nine-year-old twins keeps Anna very active in her daily life but taking on the London Marathon is a whole new challenge.
Anna, who is Head of Finance at Twins Trust, knows how important fundraising is for the charity.
After getting a coveted place in the ballot for the 26.2 run, she stepped up her training for the big event on 27 April. It’s the second time she’s run the marathon, as Anna and a friend ran the virtual London Marathon in 2021.

She said: “I’ve always wanted to do the marathon, it’s always been top of my list. Before having kids, I wasn’t really a runner and I used to run with my husband Matt. We then had IVF and I got pregnant and I stopped running. After the kids were born, we moved to a village where there were a lot of runners. Running gave me something - it gave me time away from being a mum and I enjoyed the social part and really started to enjoy running.”
Anna was due to run a half marathon with her friend, Fanny, in November 2020 but sadly the run was cancelled due to Covid. Having trained for the event, they decided to map out and run their own route to complete their own challenge.
“That run made me realise I could do it. My twins made me a medal for completing it too.
“We jokingly then said we would enter the London Marathon and we didn’t get in but signed up for the virtual marathon. We ran half of it and the other half we walked, as we were both injured. It was tough but we did it,” Anna said.

Training for the 2025 marathon has been going well for Anna, fitting in early-morning runs and gym sessions in her spare time.
She added: “I really had to start from scratch with my training again. I’ve been running since May 2024 again and getting myself prepared. Matt and our twins, Emily and Barnaby, will be coming to watch on the day and follow me on the route. I’m looking forward to enjoying the atmosphere.”
Twins Trust has been a lifeline for us
Anna said it’s not all about the finish line and the medal but for her it’s more about what running teaches you and how it helps you in your daily life.
“The training process has taught me so many things about myself, about the discipline, commitment, self-care and what running actually means to me. Running is not all about chasing digits or personal bests - it takes time to learn how to enjoy it and truly to fall in love with it.
“As a mummy of twins, Twins Trust has been a lifeline for us. From the moment we found out we are expecting twins, to the sleepless nights and the chaos of raising them, Twins Trust was there. The support, advice, and resources were invaluable, especially during those early days. This charity is so much more than just an organisation - it is a community of families who understand the unique joys and challenges of raising twins, triplets, and more.”
