Most schools have between 13 and 15 weeks of school holidays throughout the year. If you are a working parent or carer, you may need to look for childcare or holiday support to be able to continue working through these weeks.

Can I claim tax-free childcare for out of school clubs?

Many schools have out of hours childcare, clubs or camps to keep your children entertained whilst you continue working through the holidays. These usually have a cost associated with them, but the good news is that if you are eligible for tax-free childcare, you can continue to claim this until your children are 12-years-old (or 17-years-old if your child has a disability).

You can find out if you're eligible for tax free childcare on the Gov.uk website.

However, despite this tax-free assistance it’s still worth noting that these clubs don't often come cheap - and you may need to consider alternative options to help you through these holidays such as informal childcare (grandparents or friends), flexible working or annual leave.
