Zion Foster, partner of former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson, will be running the London Marathon this April to raise funds for Twins Trust.

Jesy and Zion, who are expecting twins, recently underwent specialist laser surgery after discovering their babies had Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome. (TTTS).

TTTS is a rare, but potentially fatal, condition that affects about 10-15% of twins that share a placenta (monochorionic twins), as well as higher order pregnancies with a shared placenta. It can appear at any time during pregnancy, but most commonly before 24 weeks.

After learning more about TTTS and the implications it has for their unborn babies, Jesy and Zion felt passionately about supporting a charity that works with families with multiples and with hospitals to help save babies’ lives.

Dad-to-be Zion will run the London Marathon for Twins Trust and has been busy training for the event on 27 April.

Zion, who has set himself a £25,000 fundraising goal, will join three other runners who are also taking on the 26.2 mile route across the capital for Twins Trust.

Twins Trust do incredible work in supporting multiple families

Jesy and Zion said: "We are proud to be working alongside the Twins Trust who do incredible work in supporting multiple families, funding vital research and saving babies' lives.

"We couldn't think of a better charity to support as Zion runs this year's London Marathon and hope to raise as much money as we possibly can.

"Any donation, no matter how small, will go a long way to help multiple babies and their families in the future."

Shauna Leven, Chief Executive of Twins Trust, said: “Multiple pregnancies are already high risk - with increased stresses and strains - even before factoring in complications like TTTS. We're thinking of Jesy and Zion as they go through these ups and downs.

“The awareness they have raised about TTTS in the past few weeks has been phenomenal and will help other families diagnosed with the condition during pregnancy.

“It's testament to their character that Zion will run the marathon for us in a few weeks and we thank him for his commitment as he joins our Twins Trust team of runners.”
